Transmission report

Your store already has a perfectly good mothership.

Most stores pay a mail service every month to deliver order confirmations, shipping notices and password resets. You already pay for Gmail or Google Workspace. Mail Relay for Gmail puts it to work.

Flight plan

From install to liftoff in about five minutes.

  1. Install the plugin

Upload it like any WooCommerce extension. It adds WooCommerce → Mail Relay to your dashboard.

  2. Connect your Gmail

Click Connect Gmail, enter your address and a Google App Password. The pop-up walks you through getting one, with buttons that open the right Google pages.

  3. Send a test

One click sends a test email. From then on, every order email, receipt and reset beams out through your Gmail and lands in your Sent folder.

Two docking bays

Works on hosts that ground other mail plugins.

Some web hosts block the mail port Gmail uses. Mail Relay for Gmail checks for that when you connect and points you to the bay that works.

Bay A · Most hosts

Email + App Password

Enter your Gmail address and a 16-letter Google App Password. The plugin tests the login before saving and stores the password encrypted.

  • Two-minute setup
  • Works with Gmail and Google Workspace
  • Clear error if the password or port is the problem
Bay B · Hosts that block mail

Apps Script relay

A small script runs inside your own Google account and sends over regular HTTPS, which hosts don't block. The plugin hands you the script and a secret key with copy buttons.

  • No App Password needed
  • Works where company admins disable App Passwords
  • Shows how many Gmail sends you have left today

Onboard systems

Built for store email, not bulk blasts.

Every WooCommerce email

New orders, processing, completed, refunds, notes, password resets, plus any plugin that uses WordPress mail: help desks, contact forms, bookings.

Automatic retries

If Google is briefly unreachable, the email is retried after 5 minutes, 15 minutes and 1 hour using WooCommerce's own scheduler.

Email log

The last 200 emails with recipient, subject, status and the reason for any failure.

Keeps your details

WooCommerce's From name, Reply-To, CC, BCC and attachments like PDF invoices come through intact.

Encrypted and private

App Passwords are stored with AES-256 encryption. Email goes straight from your site to Google. We never see it.

Modern WooCommerce

Compatible with High-Performance Order Storage and the Cart and Checkout blocks. Clean uninstall removes all its data.

Frequently asked by earthlings

Questions before liftoff

Why can't I use my normal Google password?

Google no longer lets apps sign in with your regular password. An App Password is a separate 16-letter code that only works for sending mail, and you can cancel it any time from your Google account. The Connect pop-up shows you exactly how to make one.

How much can I send?

Google sets daily sending limits per account, roughly 500 a day on a free Gmail account and about 2,000 on Google Workspace. That covers store notifications comfortably. For newsletters and marketing blasts, use a dedicated newsletter tool.

My host blocks mail ports. Will it still work?

Yes. If the plugin detects the block when you connect, it switches you to the Apps Script bay, which sends over regular HTTPS.

Do you see my emails?

No. Email goes from your site directly to Google. Alien Artifacts runs no servers in between, and the plugin has no tracking.

What happens if Google is briefly unreachable?

The email waits in a queue and is retried three times over about 80 minutes. Each attempt shows in the log.

What if I change my Google password?

Google cancels all App Passwords when you change your password. Create a new one and reconnect under WooCommerce → Mail Relay.
